December 1 is designated by the United Nations as World AIDS Day, and across the world many activities take place around this time to highlight the issues of HIV and AIDS. Click here to read the UNAIDS World AIDS Day Report.

It was a fantastic night and raised more than $6,000 for our Mozambique program. Melbourne’s favourite African Band Musiki Manjaro had the crowd up and dancing and Burnet Youth Ambassador, Collingwood footballer Heritier ‘Harry’ O’Brien, spoke eloquently about how his recent visit to Burnet in Mozambique had affected him. The evocative images displayed in the photographic exhibition, ‘A moment in Mozambique’ showed the faces of people in Mozambique affected by HIV and AIDS. Click here to see the images and details of their cost.

The Burnet institute would like to thank everyone who supported the event and the generous sponsors who donated items for the fundraising auction. All proceeds from Celebrate Africa! will directly support our work in Mozambique.

You can also support our work in Mozambique by purchasing gifts from our Share the Care gift catalogue, Click here to find out more details. Stay tuned for regular updates on this site about HIV and AIDS and World AIDS Day 2009.
